InSight - One Veteran's Quest to Help Homeless Veterans
Show Details
Navy Veteran Robert Wood of Keizer understands how difficult
readjustment to civilian life after service can be, and knowing there are many homeless veterans sleeping on local streets every night for lack of shelter he decided to do something about it. With his wife Judith’s help he founded a non-profit, Help Oregon Veterans, whose mission is to provide them overnight shelter. He explains his reasons and gives examples of why he believes this idea is the right approach for veterans, aware many are terrified of being indoors and away from their street community. “Our aim is to be the first step on the road back to the life of dignity that our Brothers and Sisters in arms deserve.”
