What’s it like to be the Kid Governor of Oregon? Raaga Mandala of Beaverton was just that kid in 2020. Five years later she takes InSight viewers on a journey through her experience, urging all Oregon 5th graders to campaign for the job. The Kid Governor Program is a free, award-winning in-class civics program created by the Connecticut Democracy Center. Oregon became the second state to sponsor its own Kid Governor Program. It teaches 5th graders about state government, election, and the importance of civics engagement through a real-life election timed to coincide with Election Day in November.
