(2024-EP37) Oregon's Kid Governor program is growing. In 2019 there were 1,200 students involved. This year 3,500 Oregon 5th graders in 135 classrooms across the state participated. InSight guest Cheryl Meyers, Oregon's Deputy Secretary of State, explains why this award-winning statewide civics program is important, empowering 5th grade students who will vote for one of seven selected Oregon Kid Governor candidates, the one they believe has the best action plan for the community issue on which they chose to run. 2024's Kid Governor Zoya ran on a platform of Mental Health Awareness. 2025's governor is Rosie, who campaigned on a platform of Climate Change.
