Studying the radical development of Zetkin and Braun and the issues that would eventually place them on opposite ends of the ideological spectrum allows an exploration into the divisions present in the German Socialist Feminist Movement at large. Studying this movement at the turn of the twentieth century provides a backdrop to the current state of feminism by raising questions about the development of feminism ideology, the path of radicalization followed by feminist figures like Zetkin and Braun, and the issues that would eventually divide them.
