EJD's Teen Dances is the story of Salem's Ed Dougherty. As a math teacher at Waldo Middle school in the early 60's Mr. Dougherty would often hear his students complain that there was nothing to do on the weekends. A Northwest entertainment phenomenon was born when Ed Dougherty began organizing teen dances at the Salem Armory Auditorium bringing to town some of the biggest groups of the 60's and 70's including The Dave Clark Five, Sonny & Cher, Steppenwolf, Three Dog Night, The Doors and countless others.
