Program Description
"The authors will give short readings from their new novels and then discuss the writing process: sources of materials and research, writing habits, the creative process from outlining and notebooks to the editing process, etc. We would include visuals of manuscripts and the edits involved, talk about problems like dead ends and the difficulty of conveying the logic of being human while maintaining an engaging storyline.
Steven Mayfield is a retired M.D. living in Salem. He has been writing novels and short stories for over 50 years.
Michael Strelow is a retired emeritus professor of English from Willamette University and a member of WICL since 2024."
