Program Description

"This talk is about the design and construction of cutting edge, compact, energy-and resource-efficient modular homes that can be taken and built anywhere. It will cover how they optimize the use of space allowing for more compact and usable space,as well as the selection of high-efficiency low-impact materials and products. It will also include a description of how they use of A.I. as an aid in their process. Jim Russell is the proprietor of IdeaBox in Salem, which designs and builds cutting-edge pre-fabricated modular homes. JIm has a graduate degree in Architecture from UO, where he also ran track and cross-country. He worked for a design firm in Colorado for several years before returning to Oregon, where he oversaw a program at the Oregon Dept. of Energy to build manufactured homes to high energy efficiency standards. More than twenty years ago he formed his own firm, Ideabox, with the goal to design and build compact, energy- and resource-efficient homes. "
