The City of Salem has a plan to “move opioid overdose deaths to zero," 0n National Fentanyl Awareness Day 2026 unveiling a new website to raise awareness. For every 2,200 Oregonian there is 1 young person aged 10 to 24 years old who visited the emergency room for an opioid overdose in 2024. Oregon rates among the worst states for youth overdose deaths. It is a national crisis. What’s causing it? What’s being done here to address it, and what will it take to solve it?
