Program Description
"This is a story of a fictional character by the name of Sarah ,now an old woman, who is recounting her family’s travel via the Oregon Trail when she was a girl. Although the details of her group of travelers is totally fictional, I wove into the tale actual experiences of travelers, with a particular emphasis on the experiences of women and girls.
I am a retired Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired, having taught with Willamette ESD for 14 years. After my retirement in 2006, my late husband and I traveled full time in a motorhome for 7 years, volunteering in various capacities all over the US. One summer we were visitor center hosts at Champoeg State Park here in Oregon. While there I took advantage of their library of books about the Oregon Trail and was inspired to write this presentation."
