Willamette Institute for Continued Learning - The Artistic Practice of Samuel Hoskins 9 -22-26

Program Description

"Samuel Hoskins will talk about what it has been like living and working in Italy for the past seven years. He will also discuss the science and chemistry involved in producing his paints from natural materials, the technical process he uses to create a painting and his recent research. He will touch on the business logistics of maintaining a career as a professional artist. He will be at this year's Salem Art Fair and Festival. Samuel Hoskins is a figurative oil painter working between Florence, Italy and Salem, Oregon. After graduating high school in 2019 Hoskins formalized his lifelong passion for painting at The Florence Academy of Art. Grounded in the observation of nature, his artistic practice is highly tactile, distilling natural raw materials into timeless mediums. Seeking a deeper philosophical understanding of the natural world he draws inspiration from visionary thinkers and is captivated by the accelerating frontiers of both scientific and esoteric discovery.
